Stop Labeling Yourself as "Old"

If you’re over 50 (or any age), stop talking about being old.

Stop blaming every ache and pain on age.

Stop saying, “I can’t do that anymore because I’m getting older.”

I hear this all the time—especially in the gym. (Jujitsu)

  • If a 20-year-old gets injured, it’s “just an injury from training.”

  • If a 50-year-old gets injured, suddenly it’s “because they’re old.”

That’s complete bs. Injuries happen at every age. Your body is not broken just because time has passed.

And then there’s the worst one: "Old Jiu-Jitsu."

  • There’s no such thing as “old Jiu-Jitsu” or “young Jiu-Jitsu.”

  • It’s just Jiu-Jitsu. Everyone adapts. Some young guys can’t pull off techniques that older guys can, and vice versa.

I’m 58. I’m in better shape now than I was at 28. So why the hell would I walk around labeling myself as old?

🚨 Your words shape your reality. The more you label yourself as old, the more your mindset and actions follow that script.

Yes, we’re all aging. That’s not in dispute.

But what is in your control is how you age.

So, if you want to age better—drop the old-man mindset first.
